| Rose Levy Beranbaum has been called the "diva of desserts"
and "the most meticulous cook who ever lived." Her first cookbook, The
Cake Bible (a best seller in its 29th printing), was the winner of the
1989 James Beard Foundation Book Award, 1989 IACP/Seagram Baking and
Desserts Book of the Year, and the NASFT Showcase Award for the cookbook
that has contributed most to educating the consumer about specialty foods.
Rose's Christmas Cookies was the 1991 winner of the James Beard
Foundation Best Book in the Dessert and Baking Category. Her newest and
most comprehensive book, The Pie and Pastry Bible, published in 1998,
received many kudos including Food & Wine's Best of the Best: The Best
Recipes from the Best Cookbooks of the Year and was the recipient of
Coffee & Cuisine's Best Cookbook Award.
Rose is a contributing editor to Food Arts magazine where her article,
"Rose's Sugar Bible" (April 2000) received two prestigious awards:
The Association of Food Journalists Award for the Best Food Feature
in a Magazine and The Jacob's Creek World Food Media Award for Best
Food Feature. She is a frequent contributor to many publications
including The Washington Post and a popular guest on television
including NBC's "Today Show," CBS's "The Early Show," "Martha
Stewart Living," PBS's "The Charlie Rose Show," and The Food Network.
Her 1999 PBS special, "Rose's Melting Pot," was nominated for the
James Beard Foundation/Viking Range Award for Best Local TV Food
Broadcast. An internationally known food expert, Rose also has been
a featured presenter in the highly regarded Melbourne Food & Wine Festival.
