| Dean of Pastry Arts at The French Culinary Institute and
master pastry chef, Jacques Torres achieved the distinction of becoming
the youngest recipient of France's prestigious Meilleur Ouvrier de France
Pātissier Award at the age of twenty-six. Once the pastry chef at New York
City's legendary Le Cirque and later Le Cirque 2000, Torres is now
chocolatier and co-owner of Jacques Torres Chocolates in Brooklyn which
uses state-of-the-art technology to produce fresh, hand-crafted
chocolates.
In 1998, Jacques made his television debut on PBS with 52 episodes of
the internationally broadcast series, "Dessert Circus with Jacques Torres."
Since then, he has appeared in numerous print publications, is a frequent
guest on NBC's "Today Show" and PBS, and is host to several programs on
the Food Network including: "Chocolate with Jacques Torres," "Passion
for Chocolate with Jacques Torres," and "Passion for Pastry with Jacques
Torres." Upcoming, Jacques will host "Decadent Desserts with Jacques
Torres" (December 2003) and "Easter Sweets with Jacques Torres"
(Easter 2004) both on the Food Network. Jacques is also author to
two cookbooks: Dessert Circus which was nominated for a 1999 James
Beard Foundation Book Award and Dessert Circus At Home which received
the 1999 The International Cookbook Review World Cookbook Award. He
is currently working on his third cookbook.
Jacques Torres has participated in numerous competitions and
culinary events around the world and is the winner of the industry's
top accolades including the James Beard Foundation's Outstanding
Pastry Chef of the Year Award, Chefs of America Pastry Chef of the
Year, Pastry Art and Design and Chocolatier's Ten Best Pastry Chefs,
and The Masters of Food & Wine: Chartreuse Pastry Chef Award.
