Why does PastryScoop.com require cookies?
When you successfully sign into PastryScoop.com, our site sets a cookie in your browser that indicates
you're allowed access to the member only sections of the site. This way, as you move from page
to page, we can tell that you've already successfully signed into the site (and don't have to ask
for your password repeatedly).
We do not use cookies to track personal marketing information. For
more information, please see our privacy policy.
Check for the correct URL
Please check the URL listed in your web browser's "Location" or "Address" box (this should be near the top of your screen). Ensure that it reads:

- and not

- http://www.pastryscoop.com./
Please note the trailing dot (".") character in the second URL, which will prevent you from logging in.
Netscape (6.0 & later) and Mozilla (all versions)
From the Edit menu, choose Preferences
Click on the arrow next to Privacy & Security to expand
this branch of options
Click on Cookies
Click on the radio button for Enable all cookies.
Click OK
Return to the PastryScoop.com home page and try signing in again.

Move the lever to Medium or Medium High
Click the Advanced button
Ensure that the following checkbox is NOT checked:

Alternate for Internet Explorer 6.0 & later (Method #2)
If Method #1 for enabling cookies in Internet Explorer doesn't work, please
try this alternative method.
Click on the Tools pull down menu
Click on Internet Options
Click on the Privacy tab
Click the Advanced button
Check the boxes for the following items:
Override Automatic Cookie Handling
Accept First Party Cookies
Accept Third Party Cookies
Always Allow Session Cookies
Return to the PastryScoop.com home page
and try signing in again.

Select Internet and click on Custom Level
Choose the option to Accept All Cookies

Click on the Explorer pull down menu
Click on Preferences
Scroll down to Receiving Files and select Cookies
See if www.pastryscoop.com's status is set for Enabled
If not, go to the field When receiving cookies and select "Never ask" or "Ask for each site."

Cleaning Out Old PastryScoop.com Cookies
Some Internet Explorer 6 users who had trouble accessing Member Only sections of our site
in June 2003, may need to take an additional step before being able to successfully sign into
our site. This step will clean out any old PastryScoop.com cookies that currently reside on your
computer. (The old cookie isn't compatible with your browser and is preventing us from
setting a new cookie).
Click on the Tools pull down menu
Click on Internet Options
On the current tab (General) click the option that says Delete Cookies...
(towards the middle to the window).
A dialog box will pop up to confirm you want to delete all your cookies. Click the OK
button.
Return to the PastryScoop.com home page and try signing in again.

Configuring Cache Settings
If you still cannot read the site or suspect that you may be reading old
versions of certain pages, then you may need to change your cache settings.
You can configure Internet Explorer so that it will automatically check for
the newest versions of pages you have viewed in the past.

Select Internet Options

On the current tab (General) click the settings button under Temporary
Internet Files

Under Check for new versions of stored pages, click on the radio
button for Every visit to the page.
