PastryScoop.com is proud to announce the results of the 2006 Golden Scoop Awards. The awards, which were founded in 2004 with the support of The French Culinary Institute, recognize and applaud innovation, creativity, and excellence in the pastry arts.

The Golden Scoop Awards Ceremony was held on June 5th, in the International Culinary Theater of The French Culinary Institute in New York City, to honor the talent of pastry chefs and their extraordinary contributions to the culinary community. A packed house of top chefs, as well as prominent members of the food press, gathered to watch the evening's panel discussion Pastry Chefs Without Limits: Breaking Out of the Traditional Mold with Jean-François Bonnet (Tumbador Chocolates), Yvan D. Lemoine (iFood Studios), Sam Mason (wd~50), and Jacques Torres (Jacques Torres Chocolate and Jacques Torres Chocolate Haven). Michael Batterberry, founding editor and publisher of Food Arts, moderated a lively discussion that touched on a diverse range of topics, from the latest dessert trends to new career paths being forged by today's entrepreneurial pastry professionals.

Following the panel presentation, PastryScoop.com's editor-in-chief Judiaann Woo and Jean Georges' executive pastry chef Johnny Iuzzini—recipient of the 2005 Best Dessert Menu Award—announced the winners of the 2006 Golden Scoop Awards. To close the evening, guests celebrated over a Prosecco and hors d'oeuvres reception and toasted the winning chefs.
